Supporter Spotlight🌟

Wears Auctioneering has been a loyal Habitat supporter for years! Brent Wears has successfully auctioned our annual fundraiser, Hammers & Hardhats, since 2013. His daughter, Emily Kroul, stepped in for this past year's event and blew away the audience with her talent! Together, they have raised over $100,000 for our organization.

The Critical Role of Accessibility Ramps in Helping People Live Independently

Written by Tami Bonnett, IVHFH Development Director

A couple of weeks ago, I had the opportunity to visit one of the homes we've been working on through our Helping Hands home repair program. Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity has been working to make this home more accessible for the homeowner, Rosenda, who has mobility challenges. We installed an accessibility ramp, a crucial modification to ensure she can safely enter and exit her home. Click the button below to learn more about this Helping Hands home repair project.

Thank You Hope Builders!🩵

Hope Builders are a group of our most dedicated and generous donors. They contribute funds to IVHFH on a recurring basis, usually monthly. These gifts provide us with stable, reliable funding, allowing us to plan for the housing needs of our neighbors all throughout the year.

In 2024, 40 Hope Builders contributed nearly $13,500 which is enough money to fund the cost of building accessibility ramps for two homeowners. Accessibility modifications like ramp installations are part of our Helping Hands program which helps homeowners afford the repairs they need to continue living safely in their homes. 🏡

‼️Help us address the housing needs of our community this year and into the future by becoming a Hope Builder. Click below and select "monthly" to make your donation. We can also set up a recurring ACH donation for you! Email tami@iowavalleyhabitat.org to learn more.‼️

ReStore Update

The Iowa City ReStore recently partnered with the Mount Vernon Lisbon Community Theatre  to put on the production, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? - Written by Edward Albee in the early 1960s and directed by our friend Jarrod DeRooi.

We lent the company furniture and some building materials to aid in the set build and add to the period performance!🛋

We are grateful for this opportunity to support our communities in ways that reflect our sustainable initiatives!
