VIDEO: Build Site Update!

Hear from Construction Manager Chris. In the video linked below, he provides our supporters with an update on the happenings at the Memorial Build site and what volunteers can expect as they join the construction crew for upcoming volunteer shifts.

We still need YOUR help on our build site! We are very close to completion, which will soon allow two Habitat families to move into their new homes.

Volunteers work with us every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, with morning shifts from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and afternoon shifts from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

CORE SPOTLIGHT

This month, we are highlighting a member of our construction CORE! Our CORE construction volunteers have completed over 8,000 hours of volunteer work on our various build sites. They assist with the entire building process, including framing, painting, trim work, cabinet installation, energy efficiency upgrades, and other related tasks. We are so thankful to have them as part of our Habitat family!

Bruce Alexander

Bruce is a long-time construction volunteer! He has volunteered with us since the founding of our affiliate in 1992, dedicating countless hours to our build sites and our organization. We are forever grateful that he volunteers with us at Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity! Click to read more about Bruce and what IVHFH means to him.

VIDEO: TOOL OF THE MONTH

Our April Tool of the Month is the Milwaukee Narrow Crown Stapler. It is primarily used to attach the aluminum soffit located on the underside of the porch and roof overhangs. We are currently utilizing this tool on our Memorial Build site as we complete the exterior work. To learn more about using the Narrow Crown Stapler, click the button below to hear our Construction Manager, Chris Weckmann, guide you through the process.

WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE IOWA CITY RESTORE?
Cans...Cans...and more CANS!

Did you know that every time Iowa City ReStore volunteers fill up a truckload of cans, we receive roughly $1,000 that helps fund our mission?

Thank you, Spotix, for volunteering in our Iowa City ReStore. This crew helped our two CORE volunteers, Len and Gary, sort through more than a thousand cans and cleared out the can shed TWICE! Donations of deposit-elegible aluminum cans and plastic bottles help build our homes and provide more families with an opportunity for affordable housing.

Check out the Iowa City ReStore Facebook Page to stay updated on store inventory, special sales, donation needs, and volunteer opportunities.
