Frame-A-Thon Party & Warehouse Dedication

Join us for the Frame-A-Thon Decorating Party at the Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity Warehouse! Decorate 2x4 boards that will frame the Women Build home. All ages are welcome! Come and go, but join us for lunch at around 11:00 am.

SHHH!!! This event includes the formal unveiling and dedication of the new IVHFH Warehouse. The dedication will honor Construction Manager Christy Shipley. This will be a SURPRISE for her! The ceremony will take place sometime after we break for lunch. Come for the frame decorating, lunch and dedication, or both!

CORE SPOTLIGHTS & WOMEN BUILD HONOREES

This month, we are celebrating two members of our construction CORE, who are also this year's Women Build 15 honorees! Our CORE construction volunteers have logged over 8,000 hours of service on various build sites. They help with the entire building process, including framing, painting, trim work, cabinet installation, energy efficiency upgrades, and other related tasks. We are incredibly grateful to have them as part of our Habitat family!

Linda "Digger" Barrow

Digger first joined us on the build site in 2005 for the first Women Build. Since then, she's brought her energy, humor, and fierce heart to nearly every home we've built. Wai Yin Chan

Wai Yin first joined us in 2008, working alongside Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity Construction Manager Christy Shipley to clean up homes impacted by the 2008 Iowa floods. Since then, she has become a steady presence on the build site, helping with every component, small or large, of the build process. VOLUNTEER NEEDS

We are still working on completing the interior work at our Warehouse/HabLab and are looking for some extra help during the final weeks! Check out our available shifts below.

Volunteer opportunities are available every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, with morning (8:00 am - 12:00 pm) and afternoon (1:00 pm - 5:00 pm) shifts.

Team Iowa Physical Therapy

Meet our newest Team Build Partner! Team Iowa Physical Therapy is a local business located on the northeast side of Iowa City! They have recently joined us a couple of times on our build site and helped us make great progress at our Warehouse! They helped build the stairs and subflooring on the second story. We loved having them join us on our build sites and appreciate all their hard work! Thank you, Team Iowa Physical Therapy!

WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE IOWA CITY RESTORE?

Thank you, Wellpoint!!

Last month, Wellpoint generously donated their time to our Iowa City ReStore. This small yet powerful crew was a fantastic group of volunteers who helped reorganize the different departments within the store, including sorting lumber and trim, as well as flooring. They also helped rearrange the furniture and sweep the floors! We truly cannot thank them enough for all of their hard work at our Iowa City ReStore!
