VIDEO: Tool of the Month

Our September Tool of the Month is the Hammer Drill. Our construction team uses it on every construction site. Currently, we are using a hammer drill to install anchors to secure the Women Build house to the concrete slab. Click the button below to hear Construction Manager Christy explain more about this tool and its application.

CORE SPOTLIGHT

This month, we are highlighting a member of our ReStore CORE! Our ReStore CORE volunteers have completed over 10,000 hours volunteering at the Iowa City ReStore. They assist with various tasks, including unloading donations in our donation bay, reorganizing the store, and more. We are so thankful to have them as part of our organization! đź›’

Larry Roehl

Larry is one of our extraordinary Iowa City ReStore volunteers! He began volunteering in March 2022, and we are grateful for all his help. Larry volunteers in the store multiple times each week, but that's not all—to meet our sustainability initiatives, he often repairs items in his home, which not only increases their value but also diverts them from the landfill. Click to read more about Larry and what IVHFH means to him!

Thank you, University of Iowa College of Public Health!

Last month, the University of Iowa College of Public Health volunteered at our Iowa City ReStore. This great group of volunteers helped our CORE volunteers, Len and Gary, sort cans, rearranged the front room of the store with all the furniture, and organized the trim and lumber section to its BEST. STATE. EVER! Thank you, College of Public Health, for volunteering with us before the start of the busy school year!
