IVHFH is working with local food pantries throughout November to organize a food drive at our construction sites in Iowa City and Coralville. We kindly ask that volunteers, if possible, contribute a nonperishable food item!

Most needed items are peanut butter, hearty soups & stews (pop top cans), canned chicken, canned tuna, pasta, rice, and baby formula.

There will be containers located at each build site to store the donated food.

Mark your calendars for early evening Sunday, December 14, 2025, at ReUnion Brewery in downtown Iowa City—HomeBrewed is bringing their “Music with a Mission” to ReUnion Brewery for an event benefiting Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity’s Helping Hands home repair program. More details will be available soon, including the ability to purchase tables online.

Our November Tool of the Month is the Aluminum Shear. It is mainly used on the IVHFH construction site for cutting aluminum. We are currently using this tool at our Aiden Street build site as we start installing soffit and fascia. Our Wai Yin Chan and Linda “Digger” Barrow Women Build is making GREAT progress in Coralville. THANK YOU to the many volunteers and volunteer groups that have donated their time to help out on our construction site! Over the last couple of weeks, we have completed siding installation, and interior work will be the primary focus throughout November. 

Our Aiden Street home build is also making SIGNIFICANT progress in Iowa City! The house is all dried in, ready for volunteers to work in the colder months. In November, volunteers will begin installing siding! 

Volunteer shifts are available every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, with morning sessions (8:00 am - 12:00 pm) and afternoon sessions (1:00 pm - 5:00 pm).

The nonprofit with the most Blizzard sales will receive an ADDITIONAL DONATION from Dairy Queen!
