HomeBrewed,
Home Renewed

Join us Sunday, December 14, 5-8 PM at ReUnion Brewery (Ped Mall, Iowa City) for HomeBrewed, Home Renewed, a benefit concert featuring live music by Iowa City’s HomeBrewed. The band has been hosting shows to benefit local missions for over a decade, partnering with more than 60 organizations and raising over $400,000 to support their work! Every ticket sold and every dollar donated to this event support Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity’s Helping Hands home repair program, helping local families make critical home repairs, accessibility modifications, emergency home repairs, and major appliance replacements.

Doors open at 5:00 pm, and HomeBrewed will take the stage at 5:30 pm!

Each guest will receive 1 Free Drink + Appetizers + Desserts + live music by HomeBrewed. Tickets are available for purchase here, with several options for seat reservations OR general admission.

Thank you to Sueppel's Building & Remodeling for being our drink sponsor and to Two Rivers Bank & Trust for being our appetizer and dessert sponsor!

VIDEO: Tool of the Month

Our December Tool of the Month is the, in Construction Manager Chris Weckmann’s terms, Springy Nail Set. This is one of the main tools used on the IVHFH construction site to help construction volunteers nail trim work on the inside of the home. Chris explains what a Springy Nail Set is and how it is used on the construction site. Watch the video below to hear what he has to say!

CORE SPOTLIGHT

This month, we are highlighting a member of our construction CORE! Our CORE construction volunteers have completed over 9,000 hours of volunteer work on our various build sites. They assist with the entire building process, including framing, painting, trim work, cabinet installation, energy-efficiency upgrades, and so much more behind the scenes. We are incredibly thankful to have them as part of our Habitat family!

Isaac Brandt

Isaac Brandt began volunteering with Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity in 2024. While he is one of our newer CORE volunteers, he has already made an impact, whether it is on the build site helping volunteers, creating his own fundraiser for our organization, or working with local businesses to donate tools. We are so grateful that he volunteers with us! Click the button to read more about Isaac and what IVHFH means to him.

Construction Site Update!

We are in the homestretch at our Wai Yin Chan and Linda “Digger” Barrow Women Build in Coralville. Our construction crew and volunteers have been hard at work installing kitchen cabinetry, finishing the trimwork, and completing the final installation of interior doors. Enjoy cleaning, or still looking to help with this project? Act fast, there are only a handful of volunteer opportunities left to volunteer on this year’s Women Build project!

Our Aiden Street home build is making GREAT progress in Iowa City. A BIG thank you to everyone who has volunteered at this home. Because of you, we were able to complete all of the siding! There will be a pause on this build site until the week of January 15th.

Volunteer shifts are available every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, with morning sessions (8:00 am - 12:00 pm) and afternoon sessions (1:00 pm - 5:00 pm).

Lepic-Kroeger, REALTORS, recently joined us for another build day! That made us reflect on the fact that there’s no limit to how you can help build homes.

LKR proves that every skill and every hour can make a difference. In addition to their annual Team Build partnership, they’ve used their marketing expertise, photography skills, and trusted local platforms to help Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity reach more people and build more homes.

Their creativity saves staff time, extends our impact, and inspires others to get involved. Thank you, LKR, for your continued support and partnership in advancing affordable housing solutions!
