The month of April is Volunteer Appreciation Month! We truly cannot put into words how thankful we are for ALL of our volunteers, whether you are donating your time out on the build site, accepting donations in our ReStore donation bay, sorting cans, serving on one of our committees, or advocating for our organization—THANK YOU! Without your support, we would not be able to help the families we serve! Did you know, volunteer time is valued at $29.96 per hour? Looking back over the last 12 months, that means volunteers have dedicated over $296,000 of their time to our organization.

I personally want to thank every volunteer who has dedicated their time to IVHFH! While I have worked with IVHFH for almost two years, it truly amazes me how supportive each and every one of you is to our affiliate by donating your time. I have appreciated getting to know the amazing CORE volunteers, individual volunteers, and working alongside group leaders! Thank you for always accepting my (many) emails and for smiling anytime I am out taking pictures on the volunteer sites...and yes, I am especially talking about you, Tom and Dave! Here's to many more volunteer shifts and seeing you all out at our build sites and in the ReStore! :)

Did you know that we are working on a home remodel project in Washington, Iowa? As we near completion of our work, our construction manager, Chris, is looking for volunteers throughout April to help us get closer to completion! Volunteers will help with painting, interior trim, and installing new kitchen cabinets. Click to hear more from Chris!

We have volunteer opportunities Thursday - Saturday, with morning (9:00 am - 12:00 pm) and afternoon (1:00 pm - 4:00 pm) shifts each week.

Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity is seeking a team member who believes in its mission and is willing to play an integral role in its operations by working at the Iowa City ReStore and alongside the construction team. The work week for this position is Tuesday - Saturday. Candidates must provide excellent customer service, be willing to work with volunteers, embrace challenges, communicate well, and be flexible. Meet John McKinstry, a CORE volunteer at the Iowa City ReStore. John is one of the newest members of our Iowa City ReStore CORE, but he has been a familiar face at IVHFH! From serving as a Board President on the Johnson County Affordable Housing Coalition to hosting fundraising events, John has dedicated his life to helping others in need. If you have ever donated or shopped at the Iowa City ReStore, these may be some familiar faces!  Dan, Tom, Gerry, and Dave are part of our Thursday CORE volunteers! They accept donations while also assisting shoppers with any questions they may have. We are so lucky to have this great crew help us with our Thursday tasks!
