Hodge Construction is Building Affordable Homes with Habitat for Humanity

This month, we are kicking off our summer build season with two new projects in the Iowa City area, in partnership with Hodge Construction.

A special thank you to Mike Hodge and the Hodge Construction team for donating LAND and TIME to help FOUR families build and purchase affordable homes in our community. 🏠

VOLUNTEERS—we need YOUR help completing these homes.

Are you part of a community organization? A faith group? A friend group? You can come together in a meaningful and fun way to give back to families in our neighborhood. Sign up today!

Volunteer shifts every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, with a morning shift (8:00 am - 12:00 pm) and an afternoon shift (1:00 pm - 5:00 pm) each week.

Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity Construction Manager Chris has been working on a home remodel project in Washington, Iowa. This project is part of our Homeownership Program and will provide a family with the opportunity to purchase the home through an affordable mortgage. AMERICORPS MEMBER - DELIA

This month, we sadly say goodbye to one of our AmeriCorps members, Delia. She has been a tremendous asset to our organization over the past year, helping with a wide range of tasks and projects to bring affordable housing to our community. She has led many volunteers on our build sites while also working on numerous Helping Hands home repair projects. Delia has been such a great addition to our team, and while we are sad to see her go, we are so excited to see what her next adventure brings. We will be cheering you on, Delia.

WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE
IOWA CITY RESTORE?
We <3 Our Volunteer Groups!

Over the last couple of months, we have had many amazing volunteer groups and individuals dedicate their time to the Iowa City ReStore. A special thank you to the University of Iowa Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA), the University of Iowa Sigma Lambda Beta International Fraternity Inc., the University of Iowa Rotaract Club, the University of Iowa Alpha Xi Delta, the University of Iowa Alpha Delta Pi, UnityPoint Pathways Adult Day Health Center, and the University of Iowa Pickleball Club.

Volunteers help with many aspects of keeping the Iowa City ReStore running smoothly. They help in our donation bay with receiving donations, sorting cans, rearranging the store, putting together light fixtures and other household items, and so much more!
