REGISTER FOR WOMEN BUILD CLASSES

On Saturday, August 1, we are excited to host our annual Women Build Construction Class! Whether you're a beginner or have plenty of experience, everyone is invited to join us, learn, and help build a piece of the Liz Swanson Women Build home.

These beginner-level classes will cover tool identification, construction terminology, site safety, and more. Workshops are hosted by the IVHFH Women Build Committee, but ALL ARE WELCOME! Attendees must be at least 18 years old.

Both shifts will cover the same content, so you do not need to attend each class.

Class is from 8:00 am - 11:30 am and 12:30 pm - 4:00 pm at Shipley Headquarters.

Registration is REQUIRED for these classes! We suggest a $50 donation to attend the class to support the construction of the Liz Swanson Women Build. Make your donation here: bit.ly/lizwomenbuild

DECORATE A STUD

Are you looking for a fun family activity to get involved with Habitat for Humanity? Decorate a stud today!

A critical component of every home is a strong and sturdy frame. We invite the community to help make the Liz Swanson Women Build Home frame even stronger by adding love to each 2x4 or stud that will frame the home!

Participants are invited to decorate their board, which will be nailed together to frame the walls of the home. The frame will eventually be enclosed by drywall, but the love of this incredible community will live forever within the walls of the home.

Suggested donation of $50

Please reach out to sammi@iowavalleyhabitat.org to schedule a pickup time for your board today!

MEET OUR AMERICORPS MEMBERS
Meet Skyla, Logan, Hope, and RiRi!

If you are out volunteering at our build sites this summer, you will likely see these smiling faces! Skyla, Logan, Hope, and RiRi are our AmeriCorps Members this summer, helping out at various construction sites and with Helping Hands home repair projects. RiRi, Logan, and Skyla joined our team towards the end of May and hit the ground running.

We asked Logan why he chose IVHFH as his placement for the summer, and he shared,

"I found great value in the summer job opportunity they put forward. Being able to directly assist my community while also gaining hands-on residential construction experience was perfect to support my future goals of becoming an Architect and Civil Engineer."

We are very excited to have them join us and work alongside our volunteers and construction crew!

VOLUNTEER GROUP SPOTLIGHT
Grace Episcipal Church - Kirkwood, MO

Earlier this month, Grace Episcopal Church's youth group from Kirkwood, Missouri, joined us for a fun-filled week at our construction site! This crew helped us with our many different projects. They traveled to Washington to help lay sod and add finishing touches to our Home Remodel Project. Volunteers also worked hard at our Shipley Headquarters and Hodge + Habitat construction site. We cannot thank them enough for visiting us last week!
