Register for Women Build Classes Today!

On Wednesday, August 6th, we are excited to host our annual Women Build Construction Class! Whether you're a beginner or have plenty of experience, everyone is invited to join us, learn, and help build a piece of the Wai Yin Chan and Linda "Digger" Barrow Women Build home.

Class is from 5:15 pm - 8:45 pm at Shipley Headquarters (the Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity Warehouse).

Suggested donation of $50 for each attendee.

Registration is required.

Introducing: Shipley Headquarters

"Same Ship, Different Day"

We are so excited to announce the renaming of the Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity Warehouse to Shipley Headquarters! Friends and family gathered on July 26th to dedicate our Warehouse in honor of Construction Manager, Christy Shipley.

Come on out and volunteer at Shipley Headquarters, as we are looking for some extra help during the coming weeks!

Volunteer opportunities are available every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, with morning (8:00 am - 12:00 pm) and afternoon (1:00 pm - 5:00 pm) shifts.

CORE SPOTLIGHT

This month, we are highlighting a member of our construction CORE! Our CORE construction volunteers have completed over 8,000 hours of volunteer work on our various build sites. They assist with the entire building process, including framing, painting, trim work, cabinet installation, energy efficiency upgrades, and other related tasks. We are so thankful to have them as part of our Habitat family!

Jim has been volunteering with us regularly since 2021, completing over 1,000 volunteer hours. We are forever grateful that he volunteers with us at Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity! Click to read more about Jim and what IVHFH means to him.

WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE IOWA CITY RESTORE?

Volunteer Today in the ReStore!

Looking for a way to give back to the community while being in an air-conditioned building? Come on out and volunteer at the Iowa City ReStore!

Volunteers help our staff with operations. Tasks will include unloading donations, assisting with small projects, cleaning, re-merchandising products, and organizing the different departments within the store! You may even have the opportunity to ride in the ReStore truck and gather donations!

Shifts every Tuesday - Saturday, 9:30 am-1:00 pm and 1:00 pm-5:00 pm. We currently do not have morning shifts on Wednesdays.

VOLUNTEER GROUP SPOTLIGHT

The Vine Youth Ministry

The Vine Youth Ministry, members of St. Norbert and Our Lady of the Brook parishes in Northbrook, Illinois, join us for a fun week of volunteering every July. This amazing volunteer group began volunteering with us in 2013, and we have enjoyed working with them ever since! In 2024, TVYM collaborated with St. Patrick Church, Iowa City's youth ministry program, and several local youth volunteers joined to support Habitat for the weeklong service project. These volunteers are always willing to roll up their sleeves and work hard while having a smile on their faces. We cannot thank them enough for all of the time and energy they have put into our organization every year!
