The 12th annual Women Build brings women together to raise funds and build a home for a local resident in need of adequate housing. This program serves to highlight and honor the many hard-working and talented women in our community. Construction on the Women Build home is open to everyone, regardless of gender, but does allow women to find an inviting environment in which they can participate in the building process.
Barriers to obtaining safe, decent shelter are especially significant for those with insufficient income. Under our Helping Hands program, we work to lower these barriers for residents of Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, and Washington Counties by overseeing affordable critical home repairs and accessibility modifications.0 VOLUNTEERS
Some home repairs just can't wait so we offer an emergency repair service. Through ERMAR, we streamlined our processes so we can address home repairs when time is especially critical. Examples of ERMAR projects include water heater and furnace replacement, simple repairs to plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems, as well as ramp construction. This year marks the 30th Anniversary of the founding of Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity. In 30 years, we have helped nearly 150 families become homeowners; hundreds of additional homeowners have partnered with IVHFH to make necessary improvements and repairs to preserve their home and their independence.
