  • Building Green, Building Hope
Together, we build homes powered for the future.

At Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity, we believe a safe, stable home should also be built to serve families well for years to come. Through our Green Building Initiatives, we incorporate energy-efficient and environmentally responsible practices. The outcome is energy-efficient homes that pass on cost savings to Habitat homeowners while reducing environmental impact—creating healthier homes for our families and throughout community.

    Solar Energy Fund
A brighter future starts with a home.

Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity has been building solar-ready homes for over a decade. Our houses are constructed with the wiring and infrastructure needed to support future solar panels, without costly renovations.

With your support, we can take the next step and turn solar-ready homes into solar-powered homes. Gifts designated to the Solar Energy Fund help cover the cost of installing solar panel systems on Habitat homes, allowing families to benefit from renewable energy and even greater long-term savings.

    Our Partnership with Habitat Solar

Thanks to Habitat Solar, you can also participate through a Carbon Offset Initiative, which allows individuals and organizations to offset CO₂ emissions from flights or other carbon-intensive activities by supporting the installation of solar panels on Habitat homes. Learn more and calculate your suggested offset donation at https://www.habitatsolar.org/.

Every gift, whether supporting energy-efficient building practices, installing solar panels, or offsetting your carbon emissions, helps build homes that are healthier for families, easier to maintain, and better for the environment.

Together, we build a more sustainable future, for homeowners AND our community.

In Support of Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity
We envision a world in which each person has a decent place to live. Locally, we partner with both current and future homeowners, local businesses, residents, and social service organizations to construct and renovate safe, decent, affordable housing in Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Louisa, and Washington Counties.  We also secure affordable financing so that homeowners in our program save thousands of dollars over the life of their mortgage.   Globally, we work to remove barriers to decent housing by supporting Global Village trips and tithing to Habitat for Humanity global builds.  Together with our community, Habitat homeowners gain the strength, stability, and self-reliance needed to build better lives and stronger communities.
