Mary Mascher Women Build Week & Frame-A-Thon

A critical component of every home is a strong and sturdy frame. We invite the community to help make the frame of the Mary Mascher Women Build home even stronger by adding some love to each 2'x4' or stud that will frame the home!

Consider a donation and decorate a stud for the Mary Mascher Women Build home!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:

Pick up a 2'x4' from the Habitat office, decorate it, and return it to IVHFH. Boards returned by April 27 will be displayed at the Women Build Groundbreaking Ceremony.

SUGGESTED DONATION:

Help us reach our $55,000 fundraising goal to support construction of the Mary Mascher Women Build home and Helping Hands repair. We suggest individuals make a $50.00 to decorate their 2'x4'. Businesses, please consider a $500.00 donation to sponsor your 2'x4'.

HOW CAN I DECORATE MY 2'x4'?

Studs can be decorated with paint and markers. You can get as creative as possible! Artwork, poetry, words of encouragement to the family, etc. Remember, these boards will live on forever in the structure of the home, filling the house with the community's messages of love, support, and hope for the future homeowners, Romance and Etienne and their four children!

GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY: Come back and join us on Saturday, April 29 at 10:00 AM where we will have your 2'x4' displayed at the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Mary Mascher Women Build home!

FRAME FINDER: We will invite all participants to join us again in the fall when the frame of the Women Build home is complete. You will have an opportunity to see where your stud was placed in the structure of the home.

IVHFH 2023 Women Build Week is a special kickoff celebration of the Mary Mascher Women Build taking place April 23-29.

WBW EVENTS:

● Dine Out for Women Build - Wednesday, April 26, 4-9 PM. Wednesday, April 26, Short's Burger and Shine downtown Iowa City will share 15% of sales from 4-9 PM with IVHFH to benefit Women Build!

● Volunteer Day - Thursday, April 27, 8 AM-5 PM. Volunteers will help lay sod and complete related tasks at the 2022 Women Build home located at 780 Barber Place in Iowa City. Register to volunteer here: https://build.iowavalleyhabitat.org/volunteer_calendar

● Women Build Groundbreaking Ceremony - Saturday, April 29, 10 AM. Join the Women Build committee and Habitat homeowners as we break ground at the site of the 13th Women Build home, 2637 Blazing Star Drive in Iowa City.
