A critical component of every home is a strong and sturdy frame. We invite the community to help make the Billie Townsend Women Build Home frame even stronger by adding love to each 2x4 or stud that will frame the home! The frame will eventually be enclosed by drywall, but the love of this incredible community will live forever within the walls of the home.
CELEBRATE THE BILLIE TOWNSEND WOMEN BUILD ON JULY 27!
    • Warm your hearts at a traditional Habitat Groundbreaking Ceremony. Habitat friends and the future homeowners will break ground at the site of the future home!
    • Flex your creative muscle! Personalize and decorate a 2x4 board to frame the Women Build a house!
    • MUSIC! Enjoy live music by the local band HOME BREWED! The music starts around 11:00 a.m.
    • FOOD! Lunch will be served around noon. Snacks and refreshments will be available throughout the event.
    • FAMILY FUN! In addition to decorating studs for the future Habitat home, kids can decorate and keep a little piece of "home" for themselves. Kids can also give construction a go by creating their "dream home" with Legos and building blocks.
    • COMPETITION! MOSTLY light-hearted and casual! Several of our guests of honor will be selecting their favorite decorated studs at the end of the event.

HOW CAN I DECORATE MY 2x4?
Studs can be decorated with paint and markers. You can get as creative as possible! You can use artwork, poetry, words of encouragement to the family, etc. Remember, these boards will live on forever in the home's structure, filling the house with the community's messages of love, support, and hope for the future homeowners!
FRAME FINDER: We will invite all participants to join us again in the fall when the frame of the Women Build Home is complete. You will have an opportunity to see where your stud was placed in the structure of the home.

In Support of Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity
We envision a world in which each person has a decent place to live. Locally, we partner with both current and future homeowners, local businesses, residents, and social service organizations to construct and renovate safe, decent, affordable housing in Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Louisa, and Washington Counties.  We also secure affordable financing so that homeowners in our program save thousands of dollars over the life of their mortgage.   Globally, we work to remove barriers to decent housing by supporting Global Village trips and tithing to Habitat for Humanity global builds.  Together with our community, Habitat homeowners gain the strength, stability, and self-reliance needed to build better lives and stronger communities.
