  • July 17 and July 24, 5-8 pm! Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity construction staff and skilled construction volunteers will host a workshop for those interested in volunteering to build Habitat homes. These beginner-level classes will cover tool identification, construction terminology, site safety, and more. Workshops are hosted by the IVHFH Women Build Committee, but ALL ARE WELCOME! Attendees must be at least 18 years old. Both dates will cover the same content, so you do not need to attend each class.

Who should attend? Classes are designed to help attendees learn basic construction knowledge and skills to prepare them to volunteer at Habitat construction sites. Already a Habitat volunteer? Come check out a tool you didn't get to use on your last volunteer shift, learn what toenail means (no, not the one on your foot!), or learn how to measure more precisely (yep, we're talking 1/8 and 1/16 of an inch!).

Registration is REQUIRED for these classes! Please click the "REGISTER TO ATTEND" button to RSVP.  Classes are FREE, but we encourage a free-will donation to support the construction of the Billie Townsend Women Build Home. You can click this page's "DONATE" button OR make a donation at classes.

In Support of Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity
We envision a world in which each person has a decent place to live. Locally, we partner with both current and future homeowners, local businesses, residents, and social service organizations to construct and renovate safe, decent, affordable housing in Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Louisa, and Washington Counties.  We also secure affordable financing so that homeowners in our program save thousands of dollars over the life of their mortgage.   Globally, we work to remove barriers to decent housing by supporting Global Village trips and tithing to Habitat for Humanity global builds.  Together with our community, Habitat homeowners gain the strength, stability, and self-reliance needed to build better lives and stronger communities.
